The Jessner peel is an effective solution to a number of skin concerns, particularly blemishes, pores and hyperpigmentation. The strength of the Jessner peel is determined by the number of layers applied: 1-3 layers for a light peel, 4-6 layers for a medium peel, 7-8 layers for a deeper peel. Individuals with medium to dark skintones are advised to NOT apply the Jessner solution beyond 4-6 layers, due to the increased risk of hyperpigmentation.
FOR BEST RESULTS
The Jessner peel is recommended for those who have already performed a light peel treatment with no adverse reactions and are looking to take the next step to address more stubborn skin concerns. This peel is suitable for those with an oily to combination skin type and is generally safe for all skin tones when proper care and instructions are followed.
Due to the increased risk of hyperpigmentation, users with darker skin tones (Fitzpatrick IV, V, VI) are recommended to take extra precaution when applying more than 3 layers. We strongly recommend conducting a patch test 3 days before applying the peel to a large area of skin to ensure no negative or unusual reactions occur.
Prep the skin for a week prior to peel application with an exfoliator, such as our Medpeel Salicylic 2% Daily Exfoliator. This will ensure a more even, thorough absorption of the peel acid. Continuing to exfoliate regularly in between peel treatments will also prolong your results.
DOWNTIME:
The Jessner peel may have mild to moderate downtime depending on the number of layers applied and may produce some visible peeling or flaking of the skin. The skin may be a bit pink/red and tight for a few hours following the peel. It is important to use a broad spectrum sunscreen daily, with a minimum of SPF 30, to protect treated skin during the healing process.
