TCA 20% Peel - Medium Strength

TCA is a deeper penetrating peel than AHA or BHA peels as it exfoliates the skin more rapidly upon initial contact. This deep strength TCA 20% peel is recommended for experienced users ONLY. TCA peels are effective for a range of skin conditions like blemishes, fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tone and texture concerns.

Trichloroacetic Acid, also known as TCA, is an effective chemical agent used to exfoliate and renew skin. TCA acid penetrates the skin deeper than others upon initial contact, can exclusively peel isolated areas of the skin and can also be layered up to 4 times for a deeper exfoliation. The very first time you do any peel, a patch test should be performed first and only 1 layer should be applied for the treatment.

This high-strength TCA 20% acid is not recommended for darker skin tones due to the increased risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

FOR BEST RESULTS

We strongly recommend conducting a patch test 3 days before applying the peel to a large area of skin to ensure no negative or unusual reactions occur.

When applying any peel, it is important to first begin building up the skin's tolerance by starting with milder, lower strength acids before attempting stronger peels and by using a daily exfoliator for about a week prior to peel application.

Prepping the skin with an exfoliator, such as our Medpeel Glycolic 10% Daily Exfoliator, will ensure a more even, thorough absorption of the peel acid. Continuing to exfoliate regularly in between peel treatments will also prolong your results.

DOWNTIME:

The TCA 20% peel may have moderate downtime depending on the number of layers applied and may produce some notable peeling or flaking of the skin. The skin may be a bit pink/red and tight for a few hours following the peel. It is important to use a broad spectrum sunscreen daily, with a minimum of SPF 30, to protect treated skin during the healing process.
