Glycolic acid - Medpeel

Glycolic Acid 50% Peel - Medium Strength

This medium strength peel addresses fine lines, wrinkles, and more prominent skin concerns. Recommended for those familar to chemical peels who have already performed a light treatment and are looking to take the next step, this peel is suitable for a normal to dry skin type and is safe for all skin tones. Glycolic 50% may provide mild peeling or flaking.

Glycolic acid is a type of alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) that is commonly used in skincare with the ability to exfoliate the skin and improve texture by increasing cell turnover and stimulating collagen production. Glycolic acid works on the first layer of skin, loosening the bonds between cells, allowing old, dead skin cells to shed off. This revitalizes and stimulates the production of new, healthy cells, revealing fresher, brighter skin underneath.

FOR BEST RESULTS

Gycolic 50% is recommended for those who have already performed a light peel treatment and are looking to take the next step. This peel is suitable for those with a normal to dry skin type and is safe for all skin tones. We strongly recommend conducting a patch test 3 days before applying the peel to a large area of skin to ensure no negative or unusual reactions occur.

Prep the skin for a week prior to peel application with an exfoliator, such as our Medpeel Glycolic 10% Daily Exfoliator. This will ensure a more even, thorough absorption of the peel acid. Continuing to exfoliate regularly in between peel treatments will also prolong your results.

DOWNTIME: The Glycolic 50% peel may have mild downtime and can typically produce light peeling or flaking of the skin. The skin may be a bit pink and tight for a few hours following the peel. It is important to use a broad spectrum sunscreen daily, with a minimum of SPF 30, to protect treated skin during the healing process. You can resume to normal exfoliation after one week.

DESCRIPTION

WHAT IT IS:
An exfoliator derived from sugarcane, which safely removes the outer layer of dead skin cells on the surface of your skin, the MedPeel Glycolic Acid peel helps bring fresh new skin to the surface. This is beneficial for those who are looking for ingredients that help with anti-aging, such as sun spots or age spots and help those with acne-prone and blackhead-prone skin. This would be a good peel to start with for new users or the next step up from a Glycolic 30% peel. Glycolic acid is safe for all skin tones and is best for normal/dry/combination skin type.

Looking for a way to reveal younger, smoother and more radiant skin? Glycolic acid face peels may be your answer!

Glycolic Acid, also known as Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA), is a chemical exfoliant originally sourced from sugarcane and has been used for beautification for centuries by ancient civilizations. When incorporated in glycolic acid face peels, this anti-aging exfoliant is able to dissolve the bonds between dead skin cells so they can be easily wiped away and allow for new, healthy cell growth.

When used regularly, glycolic acid face peels effectively combat common skin issues such as:

GLYCOLIC ACID MEDIUM STRENGTH 50%
Provides a medium strength peel using 50% glycolic acid. This medium depth glycolic acid face peel penetrates into the papillary dermis (the uppermost layer of the dermis, which sits right below the epidermis) and can be helpful for treating melasma, fine lines, wrinkles, and more prominent hyperpigmentation. This medium strength glycolic acid peel is recommended for new users with a combination to dry skin type and is suitable for all skin tones.

WHAT IT IS FORMULATED TO DO:
Glycolic acid loosens the bonds between cells, allowing old, dead skin cells to shed off of the skin on a cellular level. This will allow for new healthy cell growth.

FOR BEST RESULTS:
To achieve the best results, we recommend using our Medpeel Basic or Deluxe Glycolic Acid Peel Kits which contain everything you’ll need to achieve optimal results. In addition, we recommend the following glycolic acid face peel guidelines:

Before Your Peel
For best results, prep the skin for a week prior to peel application with a daily exfoliator such as our Medpeel Glycolic 10% Daily Exfoliator. We, also, strongly recommend conducting a patch test 3 days before applying a glycolic acid face peel to ensure no negative or unusual reactions occur.

After Your Peel

Generously apply Medpeel Hyaluronic Moisturizer Cream or Medpeel Hyaluronic Replenish Serum, on treated skin. It is also important that you use a broad spectrum sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 30 daily to protect treated skin during the healing process. To prolong results from your glycolic acid face peel treatments, we recommend using the Medpeel Glycolic 10% Daily Exfoliator between treatments.

DOWNTIME:

Mild - The Glycolic 50% peel has little to no downtime, you may see some mild flaking but typically not. The skin may be a bit pink and tight for a few hours following the peel. You can resume to normal exfoliation after one week.
